SCP/UNICEF in-country consultations in the Pacific

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

FDC’s work on the SPC/UNICEF project focused on youth strategy for the Pacific is underway. The SPC/UNICEF funded field trip in French Polynesia, Papeete, was conducted on December 10-16, 2010, by Mélanie Aubé, Senior Operations Officer and in early December in Samoa by Senior Project Officer, Carly Stephan. In Papeete, three focus group discussions were held with the youth, one round table organised with an NGO network and several one-on-one meetings with high governmental officials. The aim was to discuss and understand the current status and issues of Youth in French Polynesia. The outcomes were very positive and will be part of broader report including, besides Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga and Fiji.
