Pacific Microfinance Week 2011

Following another successful Pacific Microfinance Week in Nadi, Fiji in 2009, the Microfinance Pasifika Network will host the 3rd Pacific Microfinance Week 2011 (PMW 2011) in Port Vila, Vanuatu from July 25 – 29th. PMW 2011 will be a week-long series of events, meetings and gatherings of a range of organisations and individuals which have an interest in promoting the provision of inclusive and sustainable financial services in the Pacific.

This milestone event will bring together representatives from microfinance institutions, development partners, commercial and central banks, learning institutions, government agencies and private companies Pacific wide as well as further afield to discuss and share their achievements, visions and priorities in fostering the growth of microfinance and the development of the industry as a whole.

Participatory Project Management (PPM) Workshop Suva, Fiji

The purpose of this workshop is to learn practical and participatory project management skills, which are used in community development (CD) projects in the Asia Pacific Region. The three main project management methodologies introduced are Project Cycle Management (PCM); Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) , and the Logical Framework Approach (LFA), or Logframes for short. Financing Village-Level Energy for Development in the Asia-Pacific Workshop

The Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC) hosted a small, high-level workshop in Manila on 10 and 11 April 2008 entitled â€œFinancing Village-Level Energy for Development in the Asia-Pacificâ€. The agenda focused on the methodologies and options available for financing sustainable energy supply initiatives linked with microfinance and/or SME finance in the Asia-Pacific region.

International Workshop: The Resources Sector: Securing Sustainable Livelihoods for Communities

The interaction between communities and the resources sector in developing countries often results in security issues for both actors. For the community, security concerns arise from the lack of or unequal access to livelihoods, basic services, education, and health facilities; whilst for the resources sector concerns frequently relate to reputational risk, physical security, damage to property, personnel and profitability. This workshop aims to focus on cutting-edge methods and tools of engagement to enable the resources sector to meet national and international obligations and in the process secure communities and their business operations. The workshop will take place on the 1st February 2008 in Brisbane, Australia.
